Marymount University Hospital & Hospice is dedicated to providing specialised palliative care services and comprehensive care for dependent older individuals. Established in 1870 by the Religious Sisters of Charity in Cork, our hospital has a rich history of compassionate care. Originally located on the north side of the city, we moved to our purpose-built, modern facility in Curraheen, Cork, in 2011.

Marymount operates as an independent voluntary hospital with university status, registered as both a charity and a company limited by guarantee. Under the guidance of a voluntary Board of Directors with diverse expertise, the Hospital is overseen by a Chief Executive Officer, Executive Management Team, and a workforce totaling nearly 400 individuals.

Previously, until December 20, 2023, Marymount operated as a Section 39 organisation under the Health Act 2004, collaborating closely with statutory health services to deliver care. On December 20, 2023, the government finalised the transition to re-designate our Hospital as a Section 38 agency, furthering our commitment to providing exceptional care within the healthcare sector.
